Wicks Bros. To Return For Mum Pat
At press time, we were still awaiting for official word from the BBC to confirm the rumours that have circulated
since the summer that Nick Berry (Simon Wicks) and Michael French (David Wicks) are returning to reprise their EastEnders roles. Several published reports
maintain that the characters will be back for their dying mother Pat’s funeral. It was announced earlier this year that Pam St Clement (Pat) will be leaving the series
at the
end of 2011. Both characters were among fans’ favourites and heartthrobs during their separate stints (Simon, 1985- 1990; David, 1993-1996 – UK airdates).
Indeed, this will be the first time they will be on EastEnders together. Both actors have had successful careers since leaving EastEnders.
Berry starred in Heartbeat, and French has costarred in medical dramas Holby City and Casualty.
I wonder if they will put Wicksy behind the piano again at the V ic to lead a pub singalong. Nick Berry confided in the 1992 Walford Gazette interview – our first – that
he can’t really play.
Besides having Pat as a mum, another thing Simon and David have in common is that they couldn’t resist
Cindy. their return no doubt will get under ex-husband Ian’s skin.
Don’t forget that David’s step-brother Ricky was/is married to Bianca, David’s daughter – one-time love interest, as was Bianca’s mum Carol. What a soap opera!
